Well I certainly cocked up the date on that one. :D

I am a bit mystified by the FLO saying that it is 11 carat. In the Bronze Age the gold they used was almost always alluvial gold from natural deposits. As such it is very unlikely to be as low as 11 carats. We'll find out when the BM do a proper test. Still a great item anyway. ::g

Hello all
I'm not stubblehunter I'm the finder tman, stubby is a fellow club mate and posted the thread up for me. Fred it wasn't the FLO saying the ring is 11 carat gold it was in fact an established jewelers in Gloucester who have one of these guns (costing in the region of I think about 30 K) that they zap items with and it gives them a breakdown of the content.
Their a PROPER jewelers not like say Samuel's or Ernest Jones etc so I think their on the ball
And the FLO Kurt Adams knows his stuff and is saying 9c BC Iron Age
More to follow ....
regards
tman ::g
