Belt Buckle? ID (ID'd Harness Buckle)

Post by ashjacko » Tue Mar 13, 2018 2:28 pm

Hi everyone! I went back to my permission where I recently lost my first ever thimble and I found this buckle and I am hoping it is my first belt buckle.

It was found on pasture with my Garrett Ace 250 on relic mode and was around 5 inches down.

I would also like to know the rough age of it please.

Thanks in advance.

Can I ask .... I've seen you say modern .... and others have said modern such and such too .... to you guys ... what's modern. Cause modern to me is .... available on amazon .... I suspect modern to you is ...the last 50 years or so give or take ... but then on a thread something was id'd as modern and a follow up stated they were around roughly 1890 ... which isn't modern ... :-/

19th-20th century but can see your point as Victorian isn't really modern x;

Thank you for explaining. It used to be antique was roughly 100 years old or older but now it's gone .... well .... odd given what is being flogged, under the hammer, by 3 coats of creassote man :))

Just needed a rough idea so cheers ::g

I guess "Modern" would fall in the the bracket of less than 300 years old, PASS requirement for recording unless it is of great interest

These sort of buckles are nice but not worthy of much but a keepsake of personal interest as they are a common find, when the tractor replaced the horse these sort of things were redundant but have a place in the farming industrial age

That's my take on it

Thank you all and that baffled me to when things are said to be modern to me it's nothing like modern and I am happy with anything 19th/20th century.

I am gutted that yet again (3rd time) it's not a belt buckle.
