Thimble ID (ID'd Brass 19th Century)

Post by ashjacko » Tue Mar 13, 2018 5:57 pm

Hi all! I went back to my permission where I found and then lost my first ever thimble and today I re-found it! I was so happy but it was held together with mud so after cleaning it was in 3 parts.

It was found (originally) at the entrance to a field with my Garrett Ace 250 and was only around 2 inches down.

It is much newer than my last thimble but any idea what age it is please?

Thanks in advance.

ello 'Ashjacko'. Good Photo's ::g

As this would appear to be of fairly 'modern' in design and composition, I'd suggest late 19th/early 20th C. You could try try searching the very useful UK Detector Finds Database for many more examples/dates.

Thank you, I wasn't sure due to the red colour of it now.
