The best bits from Saturday

Post by Buriedbytime&dust » Tue Mar 13, 2018 6:11 pm

A mate of mine kindly gave me permission to detect his soon to be developed land, so I shot over there on Saturday morning. However, half a bucketful of junk and one button later, I was a beaten man and retreated to another permission for a few hours, where at least I'd find less rubbish.

That went somewhat better, with the finds below. On the right, I'm pretty sure that's a 17th C. trade token wiped clean of detail by the soil. The little buckle was a nice find I thought, and a James I halfgroat in lovely condition the icing on the cake :)

The item on the left I'm not certain about. My guess is that it might be a watch winder? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Yes it's a watch winder that would have been probably attached to a crank.
