Chape? or am I grossly mistaken

Post by howard86 » Sat Mar 17, 2018 12:47 pm

Hi all,

Haven't been out for a dig since January because its waterlogged everywhere here/lambing etc. But I was moving some bits around and came across this that I'd put aside and forgotten about.

I don't remember anything about vdi/depth though from when I found it but it was, I think found on a field that I've found Roman bits on before now. It'd have been seeded when this turned up so not very deep down.

I thought it was a wing off a kids toy plane, but the shape makes me wonder if it's to do with a dagger chape or such? If anyone can shed some light on it, it'd be much appreciated! Thanks ::g
