French Finds 8

Post by flyhing » Thu Nov 23, 2017 9:55 pm

This is an update on French Finds 5.
Having said you never find another part of a broken item - Pilgrim Button, I go and find another piece.
This helps to add more detail to the picture as this shows a bishop or the pope standing next to another figure and over the previously spotted guy in a tunic. He his now horizontal to the other two who are probably standing over the guy and presiding over his burial?
As this find spot is an orchard the chances of finding any more bits are remote but I can only imagine how splendid the complete button would have looked.

It must have been an incredible item (still is)
You never know the other bits should be about and could be in big chunks too.
I hope you find them

As the sun streamed through the window this morning I was able to take a better photo.

That really is a nice piece...
Looks like a skull (or stack of) above the unfortunates at the bottom?
