Lots of pennies!

Post by paint » Tue Jul 03, 2018 9:58 pm

Todays little haul, very proud! Me thinks they are ...

2 x 1797 cartwheel pennies, 1 x 1799 copper halfpenny and 1 x 1806 half penny. All from same hole in the ground - some poor person lost their purse a couple of hundred years ago by the looks. No sign of purse, possibly rotted away. Please correct me if im wrong, im still learning!

Happy Digging

You must try and keep these coins together. They were lost together and lay in the ground for 200 years together, that needs respecting. Well done. ::g

Hello 'paint' Your coins have an interesting history involving the Soho Mint/Foundry in Birmingham and the two prominent pioneers of Steam - Matthew Boulton and James Watt of 'Rocket' fame. Perhaps a little research via the 'net' beckons. All the best ::g Regards ss47

Nice touch, It would be very fitting that they stay together.
