Well, it's his own fault - we've not seen each other since February, what with his being so busy. In all fairness I've not had much time on my hands either, what with having to deal with various household issues including sixteen new assault cases lodged against Uncle Bungletrap and Great Aunt's false forehead keep coming loose. But I digress...
What ho,
Off to see the FLO today, took some snaps of what I'm dropping off as per, and thought I might as well share them. The land's been ploughed and scarcely a visit goes by without a recordable find cropping up, hence the productivity over the past few months which will add to the poor FLO's stress levels. Might take him a bottle of something fiery to ease the blow. Maybe some vallium to go with it.

Fibulae:
FLO brooches.jpg
Some of the assorted:
FLO various.jpg
There are also 25 Roman coins, not photographed as that'd eat way too far into gin time, and in all I'll be lobbing around 60 recordable items at him (we usually try to keep it to 20 or so). What with the cotchell of "possibles" and the big bag of BA casting waste to rummage through, he really is going to go ape, ain't he?

Well you’ve been keeping those lights under your bushel, you minx! Some really stunning finds there. Sure he won’t mind at all, better than the toot most of us throw in their direction
Hope you are being a good boy and bagging each item individually with all the info on find spot on each bag.
Then he might kiss you though, so be careful

Lord, no. I just find em and Jenks does the rest.
There is a fair amount of scribbling on the bags, right enough. Lots of numbers involved, sort of thing.

Thanks, chaps. It is an exceptional site but this is far from the norm for me. Since the plough was sent in the place, like Mr Creosote, has exploded. Lovely finds just seem to be fighting each other to get under the coil at the moment.
It's got to the point where I decide in the morning if I fancy Roman or medieval, go to the appropriate area, and find it. It won't last and I'm taking nothing for granted - I'm fully aware of just how lucky I am.

Blimey matey, where have you been hiding that little lot (to paraphrase OG)?! I thought that my summer had been reasonable, but now thinking of taking up golf! Great selection, well done.
If your FLO isn't impressed, you could always hand them to mine

To be honest, I'm more impressed by the colourful life he leads: if the Fig wants to find his pot of gold he could always sell Uncle Bungletrap's story to the press!!

Well, that could have gone better.
FLO: 'Hi, John. Got a few bits for me to look at?'
ME: 'Er... Define "few"' and I emptied the box out onto his desk.
FLO: "Wha-"
He then went a funny colour, fell to his knees and cried. He actually cried. But not for long, and if it wasn't for a timely call of ' DUCK!' from one of his colleagues I'm sure the letter opener quivering in the door jamb would have been firmly embedded in my noggin.
However, after the tears, rage and a few stiff gins it all progressed on a reasonably civilised basis bar the odd sniffle and it turned out I had a treasure item in amongst the "possibles". What I thought might be a fragment of a Roman ring turned out to be just that, but made of solid silver
After a further healthy tincture or two to celebrate I had Jenks fire up the Bentley and beat a retreat, leaving behind me what can only be described as a broken, snivelling wreck of a man.

A very nice accumulation of decent finds there which will in all likelihood, put some entire collections in the shade. Such a site is to be cherished and savoured as you would an impaled maraschino lurking in a 'tall gin'. Seriously, that's a very impressive haul, well done - love it!::g

P.S. I hope the FLO recovers with no detrimental effects resulting.

Too late for that, Eric. By the sound of the wailing following me out of the building (at some speed) the damage has been well and truly done.

If not then I'm afraid the Gentleman's club may have to review your position

Digging and cleaning, well of course. Do me own swinging, though, as it helps enormously in balancing the refreshment package held in the other hand

There was more? OMG I’m happy to help with the detector swinging, or the gin carrying, if you need to rest after all that exertion. All that digging can’t be good for you
