Back home to gold.

Post by fred » Sun Dec 02, 2018 7:16 pm

I arrived home yesterday after nearly a week away. I had a great time and I don't appear to have missed much weatherwise but I really felt the need for a detecting fix. I had planned to hit a farm today but it poured down all morning so that didn't happen.

The tides were good enough to get out for a couple of hours last thing this afternoon after the rain eased. Unfortunately the beaches were all filled in so it was just a swing it and see session. The first couple of signals gave me the princely sum of 7p and I added another 2p over the next couple of hours from very, very few signals. I eventually ended up back where I started and fished out another 20p piece and a few pieces of very deep shrapnel. Perseverence paid off when an unmissable signal left the edge of a gold ring poking out of the black mud that I had just pulled out from about 8 inches down. At 2.8 grams of 9ct it's nothing special but any gold is always gratefully accepted and it rounded off the day nicely. The hallmark (1982) is from Sheffield, an assay office that I don't ever recall finding before so that was an additional bonus! ::g

Nice ring Fred. Is that C M engraved on it.? I’d have been happy with that one :D

Must admit to not having got out anywhere lately. Just seems to have been a long stretch of one thing after another. I was thinking a few days ago, I’d missed 3 full moons in a row. Tides around here come right for me just about then. Ah well maybe on the next one !

The initials seem to be CGM.

It's the trouble with the short days, both low tides are well in the dark on the best tides here. :D Ah well, it'll just have to be a farm tomorrow then. ::g
