Cut out silver coin and more silver....

Post by ashjacko » Sun Feb 10, 2019 6:22 pm

Today saw another day out with Timmy64 and Graham on the Victorian military permission, the day turned out to be a great day for Graham and I and not so much for Timmy (sorry Tim lol).

Graham was the first to find silver in the shape of a silver threepence and then it was my turn with the same another threepence, Graham went on to find two more Viccy threepences and four knackered Viccy coppers.

I then stumbled across this fantastic find and I had no idea what it was when it came up and was covered in mud but it turned out to be a George IV shilling (roughly 1826) that has been cut out and turned into a pendant. Also on the silver chain was a Brazil 200 Reis of Pedro II from 1856 (917 silver).

Both these coins are on an unmarked silver chain with a T bar and some sort of fitment on the end, I am assuming it is a watch chain.

Thank you to Tim and Graham for another great day out.

Sorry forgot to say all my things found with my Garrett Ace 250 and Graham's threepences were found with his Deuz.

Well done. It's certainly a watch chain and fobs and a very nice one indeed. ::g

Thank you, any idea what the small fitment would be on the very end of the chain?

It's a snap (aka lobster) clasp for going on the watch itself. ::g
