Nearly did the gold dance

Post by lonecoiler » Fri Mar 15, 2019 8:41 pm

I found this 1916 George V halfpenny on my local beach about 6 months ago. I had to tease it out from between 2 rocks. It was so shiny I almost did the gold dance.Anyone got an idea how long it will take to tarnish back to bronze. I know it isn't the best coin but what the heck.

It probably never will return to what you think of as bronze or, if it does so, it will do so over many decades. What it will most likely do is go dull and pretty lifeless. :D

Hey, snap - I just bought the very same model for about £7 on eBay, and find it excellent.
