Tooth seems canine........if its from a wolf even better ::g

RR
Looking at it in the flesh I am sure it's canine and probably wolf as I suggested in my intro post above. What story lays behind this find....wow. If it is Viking period wolf that is unbelievable. ::g

Seeing the item between your fingers gives a good impression of the size of the tooth. My initial thoughts are that it seems rather small for a wolfs tooth even with the missing tip.
The item also appears to lack any patination which im sure a 1000+ years in the ground would have produced. Im assuming its a copper alloy.

It's made of silver with a gold wash ( gilt) over it. Comparing the tooth to my own dog and assuming the wolf was not massive then the size appears to be in order.

The above link is interesting and discusses the magical properties of animal teeth pendants in the Saxon period.

It could have belonged to a Pogues Fan of Shane MacGowen who obtained one of his Teeth when he had the lot removed?

Ok ok , its just a cabin fever theory 8-| .
