Hadrian denarius and Q. Bess hammered.

Post by Mancave-man »

Had just over a hour today on a stubble field in glorious sunshine but bitter frost which defeated me in the end but not before I found these two coins. The first was a Hadrian denarius which gave a quiet but repeatable signal on the Deus 2 and was about 4" in the side wall. It is in very nice condition and says HADRIANVS AVGVSTVS on the obverse and TRANQVILLAS AVG PP on the reverse with COS III in the Exergue. RIC223 var refers and it would date to 132-134 AD.
The second up was a very worn Lizzie dated 1580. This gave a poor repeating signal and was about 4" down.
Deus 2 with 13x11 coil on the standard Forager programme, GB at 79.

Hope all are well and can still get out and happy hunting if you can. Thanks for looking.

Best regards,

The Denarius is really nice! You did well to manage an hour!! Off today and nice and sunny but ground quite hard now and still a thin layer of snow. Fingers crossed for Saturday

Well done for battling the frost! Gotta love a denarius, lovely little lumps of silver. My brother found his first one today too. Happy hunting [81/]
