This! I would love to find a spearhead... for me it's not really about things that are worth money, it's the fascination of the journey that found items have been on. Thinking of how many hands it's passed through etc. Obviously, I wouldn't be against finding something of value, it might afford me a Deus II [87/] .
People don't think it be like it is but it do.

Not wishing to be greedy I would be happy to find an Oxford Crown, minted in 1644. It's an incredible piece of work and has to be admired even if you are not a Royalist.
I've yet to find a coin from this period but you never know.

I absolutely adore the medieval period in our countries long and varied history and for me there are two items at the top of my bucket list that I would very much like to find.

(1)... Heraldic Horse Pendant... shield shaped like
Rank 81's Avatar (stunning) [81/] ...I so want to find one of these.

(2)... Annular Pin Broach... like ianp's recent find...( also stunning ) [81/]

So ...with fingers firmly crossed 🤞and in hope the Detecting Gods look upon me favourably🙏...I will continue the quest.

By the way ...great thread ...Macsen Wledig [81/]

Regards.

I’d love a Byzantine coin, gold or not, and would ever wonder about how it got to a field in Buckinghamshire. Vikings, mercenaries, Anglo-Saxons, all the tales it could tell, and the stories of wealth and fortunes won it had seen before being lost until I found it. OK, ideally Byzantine gold would be good, but any other metal would still get my juices flowing

Due to living right by the capital of Mercia, absolutely anything viking would be a dream for me, but I think a decent condition sword would be unbeatable 🤩

I don't really mind what it is, but is significant enough to be on permenant display in a museum with a mention of my name and a little note on how I found it, nice to be remembered. [81/] [81/]

Any form of Roman brooch!

Over the last 3 years I’ve been very fortunate to find a Celtic gold full stater, Saxon Edward the Confessor silver hammered, 3 Roman coins 2 silver one bronze and around 30 hammered’s plus some very interesting artefacts but never had any form of Roman brooch, not even a fragment! But see them posted regularly on our forum [27/]
You only go round the block once! So you might as well go round it with a smile on your face (2:)
