From a freezing Gale force 7 Shrops/Worcs/Staffs border....tonight fate played a funny game! I was originally going to meet with a detector pal for a session near the Celtic hill fort permission after work about 5.30pm for a couple of hours..... however running late and with the sun going down around 7pm I pulled into the Roman field near my house for a quick half hour..... quickly chanting my normal mantra as i walked on " spirits of the field...take me to the silver and gold for their is a story to be told..... turning on my deus to Fin programme... 13inch coil fin is basically based on gmaxx @ 11.7khz full tones..with lots of tweaks ....the nasty rape stubble that was thick and over a foot high has now been disced ... a quick loop over to a hot spot area i previously had some finds in last year.... a sweet little 73 came up and well about 3 inches down...and i knew what it was still covered in mud by the tone , signal size and back of the net a bit of water reveals a ..... Roman Republic AR serrate denarius (18.3 mm, 3.3 g, Tiberius Claudius Ti.f 79 B.C. Rome mint..... The gods yielded so content i walked back to the car and tangy signal and out pops and a very nice bone handled knife i have not even cleaned yet and just before the gate an early lead token!.... all over in 25 minutes..... now that's what i call fate!
Im still on a roll of finds and feel totally blessed to share the history!
Goodluck to all this weekend of big digs
Wallydog...aka lucky Bert......
