Jaulas de Mosca 3D

Post by Twit » Fri Mar 16, 2018 3:55 am

Continuing the adventure into 3D I chose a couple of buttons for the next test. These are Iberian and are called fly cage buttons, from @ 17th century. The smaller one is out of shape ( not from the 3D program).

https://sketchfab.com/models/99a18b9550 ... d905dcbc76

The time taken to create this model adds up to maybe half an hour ( photos, at the computer etc.) + processing time, which was long on the dense point cloud ( 12hrs * see addendum below) , the other stages adding up to another hour or so. That is on a bare minimum computer, at low resolution, and no great effort made to tidy the pictures ( which is why the paper joins onto the object in places etc. ) . I am going to test different parameters to try to speed up the processing, will note them here eventually :

viewtopic.php?f=42&t=99246

* Managed to reduce the dense point processing time to just half an hour without too much loss of quality, will introduce data on that and example results in the link above.

A lot of effort obviously goes in to producing these images and thanks for showing them.

Great stuff ::g

Twit =P~ that looks ... jaw droppingly beautiful ..... looking at that and assuming that it is accurate and hasn't had the program make assumptions (cause I can't see the origional) it appears you can even see the casting marks rather than assembled from scratch. What an amazing thing. I love this so much. Both the work you've put in .... and obviously the objects. Just stunning. Thank you.

That's a great effort Twit and I'm pleased that someone else is giving this 3D thing a go ::g

It's like quite a lot of new things, it always seems impossible to do at first!

I just hope we find something this weekend as we haven't been out since 25th Feb!!! rl;

Well done! :D

Thanks Figgis and OG, Shaggy and all, a few words of encouragement go a long way.

It is an effort... more the patience needed with the computer really is the more off putting, but now seem to have it figured .... when am prepared to not use the computer for anything else for a day. I like making things so the rest was fun for me.

Fisher - thanks.. it's just a bit awkward to figure out what the program likes to process. Have had storms here in Portugal also, so ten days at home now is enough for me, still we needed the rain....beautiful day out now so not complaining.... at least you get to go sledging :D.

Lowland - Och aye Twot the noo :D.

Thanks..Lowland is having trouble with it also and has taken to calling me twot and twite :)) ... but what would you prefer, honestly, that I call myself The Professor or Master .... leaves no room for error and I'd get sniped into a bucket....at least with Twit there is no pretence and room to improve.... and anyway, I'm not either of those alternatives really so I must be a slightly educated Twit but one all the same, because someone of great sensibleness would never pick that name :D

You see I was uncertain about calling myself Twit as it has a slight undertone of stupidity, so when people confirm that it fits I feel that it was actually a clever choice. I don't mind if people twit away at me now either because the more they do so, the more right the name becomes. Even if people make out I am not a twit, well I must be a twit for getting it wrong, and that also makes it right.

Anyway, this is a forum, so where would we be if we couldn't twit ? :D
