Get the dirt off but leave the rust. It's beautiful.

Each to their own I am not a fan of rust myself but do like a nice patina on certain coins just trying this and I prefer it and that's all the matters.

Rust is interesting. It's God's art. The riddle of steel. But as you say, each to their own.

Yes it certainly does work before and after below BUT ....

What I found out was that at the positive terminal you place a sacrificial item. In my case a trampoline spring that I've found in the dirt. But if you use stainless steel items instead ... you may succeeded in producing Hexavalent Chromium ... which means Julia Roberts and Albert Finny could turn up at your door with a class action suit against you. (Erin Brockoviche) ... or your kids will be born inside out ...

Or ...

You use iron and produce Hydrogen and Oxygen ..... which gathers in the roof .... and someone turns the lights on upstairs and then ......... the man stood over you is a paramedic dragging you from a pile of match wood.

... other nasties are available apparently if you use copper but I won't be so didn't look that up. I just wondered what the white vapour was coming off the crocodile clip that's all .... after reading up .... went out and opened the shed door and windows :-O

Was trying to see if there was any lettering that might help with an Id. ... although there appears to be some it's ethereal at best .... but now I'm a convert ... I love electrolysis.

Still no idea what this is like .... but I know it's not a boat now so ...
