Nice livery button cleaning advice...

Post by HolzHammer » Thu Oct 25, 2018 6:42 pm

Evening All,
I really like this button I found yesterday - some sort of dragon I think... there was a tiny hint of gilding showing and much more after I had given it the ol’ Spit n’ toothpick treatment - very encouraging as it seems the brown layer is not under the gilded or shiny section but on top of it... it is just proving very hard to shift. I haven’t had a go on the left side yet by the way.
Does anyone have any advice on how to loosen this layer more easily? The toothpick method has limited appeal unless you have a lot of time on your hands!
All the Best
Alexander
