Milled edge early vic

Post by Cookie_iow » Mon Jan 21, 2013 3:34 pm

So.... I've got an early Vic silver one shilling, it's dated 1853 and has the milled edge, the coin is fine, but in the latest spink guide it says £1350! Can anyone confirm this for me please? Because my luck just isn't that good! Lol..

I had the same coin a few months back and thought the same as you, but the coin shop it's only worth it's weight in silver (£10). I declined their offer.

Well... no pics :-/ ... and my Spink book doesn't show a shilling in fine condition of that date anywhere for that price. Only a proof coin, around that price, so as Gregg shows above yours will most likely be around the £12-15 mark if it is indeed in 'fine' condition.

Spink 2013, fine £15, very fine £30, extremely fine £225, uncirculated £475. proof fdc £1350.
These are the latest values for your coin, sight unseen. The price you gave was for a proof fleur
de coin, yours will be in the £15 = £30 bracket. Frank.

I found one with the same date last weekend on a club dig, it is in EF condition so well pleased with it. Only worth a few pounds to sell which I never do.
Wonderful things
