I'm outside Old Trafford and there's a guy burning small effigies of Rooney and selling them to fans. Oh, hang on. It's a baked potato stand.

That's a great result for the lucky finders. Despite it being found in Lincoln, perhaps the Norwich Castle Museum will display it::g (Rumour has it, that the rest of the hoard is yet to be found on an 'undetected' field near Stratton Strawless)!! :D Many a true word............... :D ss47

Why amateurs ? I doubt if the archaeologists would have found this one unless they fell over it. If it was in detector range then if the area had been developed the lot would have gone into the spoil heaps never to be seen again.
Every commercial dig removes the topsoil and subsoil by tracked excavator unsearched in any meaningful way into vast spoil heaps. Lets get real it should read "experts locate coin hoard once again showing to everyone the benefits of responsible metal detecting." Amateurs indeed !!!
