Great link, that. It'll help while away the long winter hours very nicely.

Thanks for posting.

It seems quite extensive for some counties but very much less so for others. I know of at least 2 Derbyshire ones and several Staffordshire ones from personal experience that are not listed. So it falls into the category Useful but Not Definitive.
I have dozens of lost villages and hamlets within a 10 mile radius of home here in Normandy.

Cheers for putting that up..
Possibly more than Half the hills round here have got a fort on!
I'm sure there's some still inhabited . :)
As for medieval touns(hamlets) check out how many got sacked in this part of the world -by whoever was passing through at the time...or just as likely your neighbours.
Cheers.

Only two mentioned for Lancashire.

The one Greenbooth says thus;

Greenbooth, abandoned and submerged village under a reservoir.

Err, no it wasn't. They had to move out for the then new reservoir in the very early 1960's.

A reservoir was also built over another village on the other side of Rochdale near Wardle for the then new Watergrove reservoir. A small number of people were also moved out of here in the 1930's.

Neither were abandoned.
