LIDAR Finder

Post by shaggybfc » Mon Jan 29, 2018 12:09 pm

Is anyone else having an issue with LIDARfinder.com? The google maps part works but the LIDAR doesn't. It looks like the LIDAR image server provided by the EA is down. Just wondering if this is permanent or and temporary thing?

it looks like the Environment agency have taken the servers down or have stopped these sites from accessing their data. That's disappointing, I spent hours looking at the LIDAR images, trying to find interesting features....

I doubt it’s the Environment Agency at fault here. They get an export file from the Environment Agency, it isn’t a ’live’ link to the data if you see what I mean. ::g

I suspect lidarfinder.com are just having server issues or an update went wrong? 8=ypr

Thanks OxGirl, Another LIDAR site-Open Data Maps has the same issue and this is shown on their site.

Hope the other one helps you in the meantime as it’s still working OK so will keep your lidar research fix topped up ;)

I suspect that the two resources with no Lidar showing are linked to the Environment Agency data via a direct link/API.

The reason I suspect this to be the case is that I've just been on the EA's website and their own Lidar web preview is showing nothing either.

I've emailed them to check.

I can still see Lidar of Wales, just zoom right out. Maybe the Welsh did a deal? :))

This is the response I got back from my query email...

Hi Tony,

I've looked into this further for you and unfortunately there is a problem with Lidar and Ariel photography data at the moment.

The Environment Agency have engineers trying to resolve this matter as we speak but we have no indication of when this will be resolved at this moment.

Hopefully this should be resolved soon and you'll be able to use the maps as usual.

Fingers crossed they fix it soon

Thanks for the update Tony ::g , my evenings are empty without LIDAR research, I've considered going detecting in the dark :)

I may have spoken too soon - looks like huge gaps in the data. An area I was interested in, previously had LIDAR data, but now is blank... B|
