Decided to give this post a quick read and 20 mins later I am still going through it all! What a super post, thanks for sharing all that info, I still have to find a celtic/roman/romano brooch but my new permission is almost next door to a famous celtic/roman site, so heres hoping I have a need to refer back to your excellent post, Liam ::g :;@

Had my first Polden Hill type brooch last week so will update this guide over the weekend with a few new photos of old finds and a couple of new photos of new finds :D :D :D ::g

Have updated this at last, added 5 new brooches, 2 found in the ground since the original post and three found in box's .

The Roman Gods eventually smiled on me today and I found Trumpet Brooch :D :D ::g ::g

Sadly it was broken so to see a complete one and read up on them I did a quick search and found this very informative thread and thought it was well worth a bump.

Speaking to the FLO it was also interesting to be told that the different types were largely regional and that trumpet brooches were normally found in the Midlands and further north and were not common here (found just south of Gloucester).
