Straw poll on coil selection

Post by Billy Doyle » Mon Apr 16, 2018 5:49 pm

If you could choose only one coil from the following, which would it be and why?

13" coil
11" coil
9" HF coil

Thanks

That would depend on which coil you already have.
My personal favourite is the 11” because it is an all rounder.
I have also got the hf elliptical which is better when on very trashy sites.
If you have the 9” already I would recommend the hf.
DD.
E-trac 13" ultimate coil.
Full XP Deus 11" coil / hf elliptical coil

Depends on the ground conditions and the type of targets you are after...
Each coil has its merits ..

A bit like asking if you could only have one fishing rod what would it be?
Beach caster
Fly rod
Spinning rod

Or if you could only have one car what would it be
4 x 4
Hatch back
Formula 1
Imagine there is no heaven, only sky above us.

9 inch HF for me, not put the 11inch back on again yet, but not sure there is too much difference. For me I think Roman coins sound better with the HF coil, but still find them fine with the 11 inch. It’s more about having two coils to choose from for me and a back up in case the charge runs out.

I brought the deus with only the 11" coil as it was more of an all rounder, does well on coins and has more coverage.

I’ve got all three normal coils and it would have to be the 11” for me, a great all round coil that’s found me loads of stuff.

Totally agree. I have the 9 & 11" black coils, but greatly improved coverage for next to no increase in weight, and a slight increase in depth, mean the 11" gets selected most of the time.

The 9" has the edge in separation, but the 11" isn't too shabby in that respect either. I did use the 9" more when the snow was on the ground though, mainly because the 11" gathered more snow and ice and weighed a ton after a short while!
