Post by targets » Thu Aug 02, 2018 10:13 am

utube videos from france show them to have twice the depth of standard coils so looking for some confirmation on this in english

There are a few video reports in French over in YT.
The guy seems very impressed from what I can understand.

videos show a narrow hole 60cms deep ..but in reality the hole would need to be as wide as its is deep. so a big crater would be required..to get a coin from 60cms down

I’ll wait for some depth tests on YouTube to get a general idea. My only concern is upgrading to V5 as the reports don’t appear to be overwhelmingly good.

Just what some other members said on here and a friend who has upgraded but is now having problems pairing the coil in the field. It paired on v5 but when he took it out it couldn’t identify the coil for some reason.

Upgrading to V5 is no different to any previous versions. If you are running W10 in your computer, you should deactivate (momentarily)any antivirus program installed, as leaving it on can cause the problem some people are reporting.

After the remote has been upgraded, it will ask for the coils installed in turn (but the HF coils are not recognised for some reason or other and they will need to be configured in the remote manually). Then it asks for the headphone/s and that completes the upgrade.

I you have just got the new X35 coil and all it needs is entering the serial no. in the remote and will find the coil right away (as long as V5 is up and running).

So I took the 11" X35 on to a nearby field and everything seemed fine except there was no audio on the headphones and the coil's battery icon was flashing as empty. I had forgotten the new coil serial number also has to be entered manually in the phones, which I did on the field as the serial no.is saved on the remote. It is simple enough, just select the coil slot no. for the X35, press the "plus" button on the phone for 5 seconds to switch to serial number entry mode and just input the number.

I cannot, unfortunately, no just yet, report back on the performance of this coil because the field/s
available at the moment are in stubble and in the driest conditions I have ever experienced. I was only there for about 15 minutes and all I can say that the indications are good. I only managed to swing above the 6/7" stubble and had two good signals. One at 71 and one at 82 on the readout. The 71 being a coin size lead piece (on my older coil that would have registered 80 plus) and the 82 being a halfpenny at about six inches under the stubble, meaning there is an improvement in target id and depth. Cant wait for a spot of rain...…….. ::g

I bought the 13 x 11" X35 and had a couple of outings this weekend. I found a lot of coins with it, some deep but nothing that I wouldn't have found with any other coils. I tried the boost mode at 4khz but no surprises.

To be honest I think its going to take a good while and several outings before I can really comment on its performance, especially given the current dry conditions.

I’m out tomorrow but don’t have the coil yet - if it comes before I go out at midday I’ll update my Deus and give you feedback that evening. If not, I’m not out again until next week!!! The V5.1 update was simple enough though...appears to be working fine....

Did a quick air test on my 11” X35 coil today compared to my normal 11”coil with several copper and silver coins - didn’t see any noticeable difference in depth whatsoever between the coils. Got this X35coil for working in higher frequency and I can now charge both coils for weekend rallies etc so I am pleased with the purchase. However, if people think they are going to get this miraculous improvement in depth then I think they will be disappointed. I appreciate I haven’t yet done a true in the ground test but will do this over the next few days. ::g

I was not under the impression it would be deeper anyway apart from when using the new tx boost function in the very low frequency. The higher frequency and greater options are where it’s value is for me.

I agree. You really won’t miss gold at the higher frequency range. It’s also nice to have the 4khz boost function for quiet pasture where you are doing land where other hoards have been found nearby. Although you only get up to 6 hrs on maximum transmit power, I will keep my second coil if I decide to do longer than 6 hrs in the field so as I said before, great to have 2 coils for versatility in the field/weekend rallies (which I love!).

Is it the coil battery or controller battery that has only 6 hrs on max trans power?

Anyone tested that yet?
