My at max does not react to the pointer, nor do my other deus 9”hf coil and 11” standard coil. So do you think it’s reasonable that I would have to either place my deus over six foot away from the hole, remove my headphones or turn them off every time I want to use my pointer? Because I don’t.

No I am not saying that is OK, I was very annoyed with that. I tell you more my LF with 4.1 was going mad even with other peoples HF coils walking at 2-3 meters from me (so same brand). It's just how the frequencies works, if they are synchronous they interfere and there is very little that you can do except to change the frequency so that the waves don't overlap (and you don't have resonance effect).
I have a guitar, when I sneeze it sings and it does that only when I sneeze (when other persons do it it doesn't play :-) ) I think it's a resonance effect like this...but I have to admit that in this case it's a costly one.

I believe the x35 has five sets of frequencies each of the five has 7 variations giving you the 35. I will experiment tomorrow, if I can cure it by doing a slight offset of that frequency meaning I can not use one of the 7 offsets of the 5 frequencies due to it being close to the frequency of my pointer I will wear it. But if it happens across many of the 35 frequencies I will take it up with LP.

I must say I don’t have a problem with lp. I have been a customer of there’s on many occasions and always been happy with there service.

Unfortunately, as highlighted your pinpointer will emit electric noise. This is just the same with all electric appliances and be that your TV or Microwave. There is a possibility that the frequencies overlap on one or more ranges. I would not assume changing the frequency or the ranges within it are the golden bullet.

It’s not broken, it’s expected behaviour and that’s based upon the ectronic and physics of the equipment. If have the ability to swap anything then I would recommend an Mi-6.

Kind Regards

Ju

If the problem is 18 khz I bet you may have problems with 9 khz and 4.5 (or anywhere near the submultiple of 18). This is not exact by any mean as I was having problems with 8 but not with 4 and maybe you just need to shift of a couple of points the stock frequency.

By the way, now I am using mainly HF coil and I have to say that to me a lot of the talk about frequencies (depth, dimension of finds, etc) it's just nonsense. I can't really appreciate the difference both in depth and dimension of finds.

So now I use LF when it's ultra-wet just because it's easier to clean it and HF in all the other occasion, and I repeat that to me they are equivalent.

Happy to know that I choose a good retailer.

The Garrett Carrot operates at 11.5 kHz, so I wouldn't have expected it to cause a problem with 18 kHz.
There is something way wrong with the X35 coils and/or versions 5. ;;z

Thing that bugs me, someone on here was having issues with there coil, they contacted regtons the importers for xp, regions said XP know about the problem and a working on a fix, so regions continued to sell the coils knowing they were faulty as the manufacture had even agreed as much.
Now you could argue the coils were fine and it was the software that was faulty so they were right to continue selling the coils.

And I would agree with that statement if there was an alternative working software out there that could be used with them instead, There wasn't. Xp continued to sell a product that at the time of sale was not even in their own eyes working properly.

Hi guys, was given the heads up on this thread only today, the above statement is totally incorrect.

I think this is classic case of Chinese whispers at it's best.

Are XP aware of any issues with X35 coils ? No they are not. There were problems that were addressed from V5.0 with MI6 probe issues, cured with V5.1 around 10 days later, then another issue showed up in UK only where X35 coils were noisy when placed on the ground (& kept still), this transpired was an issue with some military transmition, V5.2 addressed that.

So Regton (or any other UK XP dealer) are not selling coils knowing they have an issue.

I saw another thread with a wet grass issue, that sounds like a genuine problem with the coil, there is a faraday shield in all coils, if it's broken then wet grass will cause sounding off when touched. That particular person should contact their supplier for advice.

Another source of spurious signals/interference can be from the use of tracking, ground control too low, interference from other detectors or even interference from wireless modules are also a possibility. A very good video was put up last week on the XP Classroom called Deus Ground Balance Secrets, very enlightening, clearly of use with over 2.5k views.

Hope this helps dispell some of the rumours.

Hi Nigel thanks for your response. On my 13” x35 coil of the 7 frequencies I have tried I can’t use two of them. 17.2 reacts badly when using Garrett carrot can’t stand within 6 foot of the coil with my pointer turned on and 16.4 still suffers from the emi you talked about when the detector is put down.
I have resigned myself to these issues now as life’s too short.

Welcome Chip, now then your probe issue, there is a cure...... simply go to frequency shift (not frequency change), move it up or down to whichever is best for you & then save as a new program, from then on just use that program as your probe & detector will now be happy together.

To explain why you have this on your X35 coil but not on previous, it's totally random, detectors, coils & probes are all on similar frequencies, inevitably from time to time there will be conflict, not a fault with coil, detector or probe just random. You could take 100 X35 coils & maybe one will interfere with your probe, now try another coil & it will be fine (unless you happen to get exactly the same frequency coil), they are all subtly different, the same would apply by taking 100 probes, one in 100 will interfere.

Hope that helps.

Hi Nigel do you know what the differences are between the new 5.2 software and the 5.23b version? I was having lots if problems with the beta version (although why a beta version was put on general release I still find difficult to understand) so I’ve reverted back to 4.1.

My x35 is now sat looking at me and I’d rather like to make use of it but have lost confidence in the version 5 software. So i guess what I’m asking is are we expecting any other updates on v5 for general tweaks (not new functionality)? Thanks :)

Hi Oxygirl,
I think you should have a go with the 5.2 final, I found it amazing. The only thing is that even small deep target (air rifle bullets) scream like an object penny coin size leading you to dig holes for mini bits of metal.
In a way this is good to find mini Romans and Celtic coins but so far I didn't find any of them. But I guess I can't blame the detector for that :-)

Agree with Dep1699, give it another go. I’ll post up the programs I’m currently using, and it seems to be finding plenty of small deep targets—— albeit lead, so much so that I’ve knicknamed it a ‘lead hoover’

No ghost signals? I’m used to the elliptical coil finding tiny lead etc so thats good but the X35 was being unbearably chattery and giving me ghost signals all over the place.

I’ll bite the bullet I suppose. My elliptical coil has been doing so well for me though :E

Im going to use 5.2/x35 for a while and see if I can get on with it.
If not I am going back to 4.1 again and don’t know what I am going to do with the x35 coil as
I could not sell it knowing I believe it to be of poor performance.

I also believe rightly or wrongly that 4.1 works better than 5.2 with my standard 11” coil.

I had my first full days outing on Sunday with my new Full kit Deus with 11" x35 coil and I was worried about how it would perform after reading all the worrying comments. I was relieved when it worked perfectly. I mostly used Gary's Ultimate program and it was very stable, even right up beside my mates Etrac and AT pro and with my pro pointer or when leaving it with coil flat on the ground while chatting. It came loaded with the 5.2b3 update and got loads of tiny non ferrous targets from deep down. Well happy with its performance and confident in it finding the goodies without baby background chatter doing my head in. I'm in Central Scotland so wondering if maybe I'm far enough away from this transmitter thing for it not to affect it.
