Thanks JBM, I have had the Deus for a few years now. Lost the controller first time when pushing through foliage when trying to find my dog that had decided chasing after rabbits was more interesting than watching me detect, cannot blame her. Went back next morning, retraced my steps andf there it was on the ground, VERY lucky man!
I never learned my lesson of course and a few days ago when out on stubble, went to check a signal and no controller! Rule number one would have been to note exactly where I was as the thing might be just a few yards away, but silly me started walking all over the place and I spent around two hours searching the stubble without success. I went back in the evening and used my brain to retrace my steps, remembered stumbling at one time on a rock hard bit of furrow .. after about an hour I found it lying there and then you realise how small it is and how lucky I was to find it again.
So, lesson learnt and I will now take JBM's advice and make up a little lanyard as I may not be as lucky next time round, Liam ::g

Well done Liam you were very lucky twice over.

Here is another view and they cost nothing to make up but 5 minutes of the owners time. ::g Jerry.

My job is all to do with racket restringing http://www.ukrsa.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and so I will thread a loop of very thin but strong badminton string through the hole for now, thanks again! Liam ::g

I'm with Jerry on this one...Although not made for the deus this aryca case fits perfect and the silicone front moulds to the buttons making them easy to use....And it comes with a strong landyard....Sorted... ::g ::g

I found this one on eBay. I think it's the right one. How did you fit it to the top of your stem? I can't work out how you've done it.
Cheers.

That's the one...You've got a couple of ways of attaching it...As alloverover says you can bond it to the stem blanking cap or you can get hold of a spare rc holder for about a tenner as JBM has suggested and bond the case to that and then just swap them out via the 2 screws....Some might see it as a bit over the top but at 600 quid a pop it's worth the extra protection in my eyes...I used epoxy to bond them and it holds fine but someone else might be able to suggest something else....

Just got back home from a dig.

Looks like the guys have answered the questions.

If I ever sell the Deus all I do is remove the 2 small screws and replace the XP shaft controller slide fixing.

My first case has served me well and I will replace it soon.

My controller is still unblemished when I remove it for charging. ;) Jerry.

I bought a tether to see what its like. It fits with two nylon screws into the recessed screw hole cavity to fasten the tether to the remote.

Q. If you are paying a thousand quids of your hard earned spondolicks why aren't the lanyards included? and why does one have to put up with awkward recharging facilities...
What I'd like to see from XP is either an audible alert when the various bits are fully charged, or alternatively a trickle charger that could be left on overnight. We're warned not to charge for more than 3hrs, but it would be easy to forget and leave them on for longer. I haven't done so yet (I usually set a reminder on my phone) but a smart charger would make things so much easier.

Nice idea on the lanyard ::g I'd imagine quite a few went AWOL with the old magnetic attachment, but even the clip system gets a bit loose after a while.

I guess its a good thing having a lanyard or any method so that the controller is not lost when its mounted on the stem, but as i use it solely as a audio machine i always carry mine in a zipped pocket.

A simple lanyard is a good insurance policy for a £600+ controller.

If you are using the Deep or Hot settings you need to watching the controller visual X-Y screen readout while mounted on the stem all the time.

So the safety lanyard that I started this thread with some long time ago is more important than ever. ::g

Happy Hunting,

Jerry.
