Just got back home from a dig.

Looks like the guys have answered the questions.

If I ever sell the Deus all I do is remove the 2 small screws and replace the XP shaft controller slide fixing.

My first case has served me well and I will replace it soon.

My controller is still unblemished when I remove it for charging. ;) Jerry.

Excellent idea I ordered a black Wii lanyard and it arrived today 89p

I have the clip on control box but this will give me more peace of mind.

I bought a tether to see what its like. It fits with two nylon screws into the recessed screw hole cavity to fasten the tether to the remote.

Q. If you are paying a thousand quids of your hard earned spondolicks why aren't the lanyards included? and why does one have to put up with awkward recharging facilities...
What I'd like to see from XP is either an audible alert when the various bits are fully charged, or alternatively a trickle charger that could be left on overnight. We're warned not to charge for more than 3hrs, but it would be easy to forget and leave them on for longer. I haven't done so yet (I usually set a reminder on my phone) but a smart charger would make things so much easier.

Nice idea on the lanyard ::g I'd imagine quite a few went AWOL with the old magnetic attachment, but even the clip system gets a bit loose after a while.

I guess its a good thing having a lanyard or any method so that the controller is not lost when its mounted on the stem, but as i use it solely as a audio machine i always carry mine in a zipped pocket.

A simple lanyard is a good insurance policy for a £600+ controller.

If you are using the Deep or Hot settings you need to watching the controller visual X-Y screen readout while mounted on the stem all the time.

So the safety lanyard that I started this thread with some long time ago is more important than ever. ::g

My husband's came with a lanyard, after reading this, he uses it to secure the controller to the detector, mine didn't come with a lanyard so I threaded thin ribbon through my controller and tie mine to the handle, great tip, thank you

Mine dropped off as I scrambled (ok, struggled rl; ) over a wire fence into a field on Sunday, was lucky enough to retrace my steps and find it on the other side of the fence, almost submerged in weeds. Expensive thing to lose, will attach some thin nylon string to it later, Liam :;@

Being security minded (watch the pennies kind) I bought a lanyard for my controller and attached it to the handle with some Velcro wrapped round the handle with a key ring threaded on. Lanyard attached to key ring. Worked like a dream. God job the controller came of a few times.

Another good idea is a lanyard on your pin pointer. I had one on that, a stretchy one, and attached to my Finds bag. Not as expensive as the controller but too expensive to loose or leave behind.
