Hi, I have had two Whites M6 machines, and still use one as a back up. I really like the simplicity, and have found loads of goodies with them, including 3 gold rings, hammered silver, a Bronze Age axe head and a 17th century coin hoard. The one I have now cost £170 on ebay, but it was fairly old and very well used. For £220 I would be wanting one in very good condition, possibly with extra coils. If it only comes with the stock coil then I would budget for a DD coil, which you may be able to find second hand. I have found that the 15x12 and 8x6 SEF coils are much better than the stock Whites 950. You also need headphones with adjustable volume, as the detector volume is loud and non-adjustable!
Two of my gold rings came from low tide areas on the beach, the salt water causes some falsing but just knock the sensitivity down, use salt tracking mode, and the good signals still come through.
Hope this helps, happy hunting, Ewan

Sounds good. It's a really nice machine to start the hobby with. If you decide to sell for whatever reason then you should be able to recoup your money as good, clean second-hand detectors don't depreciate much. Let us know how you get on.

It takes 8 AA batteries, not AAA. I always use Lidl own brand Aerocell at £1.99 for a pack of eight, they seem to last forever.
