Got a Whites Prism 6T for my birthday

Post by Gray C » Sat Jul 17, 2010 11:47 am

I am a complete beginner to detecting and my wife has just bought me a Whites Prism 6T for my birthday and I was wondering what you think of this machine?

I have used it a couple of times and have found a ring from the 1940s or 50s, a stocking suspender button and a couple of early 20th Century pennies. Still trying to work out the settings and how best to use it at the moment

Any advice would be appreciated

Hi mate, never used one myself but whites have a very good reputation, i know a few people who still use there whites eagle and xlt which are quite an old and dated machine, that says something on its own, all i can suggest is to read the manual and take time to experiment with it in your garden using some finds you already have, if you go straight out into a field you may be missing all sorts of things if its not set up to its full potential, i know its tempting to get straight out there but a bit of time getting used to your new machine and its capabilities may save hours of frustration later on, especially if you are a newbie to the hobby, all the best and good luck out there adam.
