Above and beyond service from Whites

Well my faithful Whites Surfmaster Pulse finally gave up after over 20 years and I was considering buying a new machine then I decided to send Whites an email to see if there was anything that could be done.

They informed me that some parts are now not available but to send it to them for appraisal if I wished. Duly packed it up and sent it to Inverness, the good news was the problem was a faulty pulse delay switch. The bad news was the case had 2 major cracks in it so it was no longer waterproof.

Talking to the technician it suddenly struck me that the case used on that machine was identical to the one used on the old VLF Surfmaster II and I had a dead one in my garage. So I dug it out checked it for cracks and stripped out the innards and sent it to Whites.

Whites swapped cases and fitted the new switch, which is not as straight forward as with most detectors as the headphones and coil are hard wired into the case so lots rewiring and soldering to do. I now have a working waterproof machine as good as new.

All that work and I was only charged £47.40 inclusive of return courier.

Ray,i will totally agree with you about the Whites service,i guess you must have dealt with James in the service department.

They will be converting my TDI sl over to a straight shaft in the new year.

That is an EXCELLENTcustomer care service department.
I dont own a Whites but I am thinking of waterproof beach machine and your expierence has now made my choice is smaller.

I want a service like that available should I ever need it.

Hi Mega, yes it was James I was dealing with and he did a great job.

Yes Digger they are excellent at customer service, this is only the second time in 25 years of having their machines I have had to make use of it. Both times are probably the result of my rough handling but they have been marvellous both times.
