What headphones for Goldmaxx Power
What headphones for Goldmaxx Power
Hello all,
Can anyone give me any advice on which wired headphones would complement my gmp and your reasons why?
I am thinking about buying a new pair of WS3’s but the £195 price tag seems a lot of money for a wireless option...
I will appreciate all replies
Clint.

Re: What headphones for Goldmaxx Power
Hi sir
I’ve run an old pair of big black Garrett full ear cup headphones
And wouldn’t swap them -unless something wireless was available!
They’ve got the cable like an old telephone one-the sounds are awesome.
They are very robust, and have had a fair bit of rumbling about in the car etc.
I don’t know if they are still made-they might be ancient?
will have a look see.
I tried the xp back phones and personally they weren’t for me.
They Sounded good but I like full ear cover
Cheers
Rory
EDIT—-found them,might get a back up pair!

Think that’s a USA website..but must can get them in the UK.
They have never felt uncomfortable and great volume adjustment for both ears seperately.
Be interesting to hear what everybody else runs with a GMP..
Cheers again

Indeed the WS 1/2 or 3 are maybee the best choice but also expensive.
If you prefere to go wireless than also the quest/deteknix wireless headphones can be used.
Concerning a wire headphones; the XP blue backphones is also a very good choice, I still used them with the Deus, why? It is not expensive, good sound and lightweight.

Re: What headphones for Goldmaxx Power
Great minds think alike Rory!!
After I had several other options...including some ill-fated Chef Phones ...I use Garrett full cup phones too, and liked them so well I got a set for hubby as well a couple of years ago. (Yes they are still readily available) Like you say, very robust, no-nonsense, excellent sound and easy in every respect. Wouldn't change them either. They are super comfortable which is another major plus. If there is one thing guaranteed to totally spoil a detecting session is having uncomfortable irritating 'phones.
The Garretts do the job, not expensive either. As for back-phones....never had such an flimsy irritating half-beeped set of phones in my life. Never again.

If we knew where you were based, one of us (me) might be in a position for you to try either the Garrett wired, WS2 wireless back phones, or the full WS3 wireless._VEX_ wrote: ↑Wed Nov 07, 2018 3:48 pmHello all,

Re: What headphones for Goldmaxx Power
I bought a GMP in the summer and used the XP Blue back-phones quite a lot. The sound quality is very good with the GMP and they were comfortable and cool for me.
Not so good on a windy day as they don't keep the wind noise out like full ear cups do. Having said that, you can pull a beanie hat over them, which helps with reducing wind noise.
I have also got several sets of full ear cup head phones, all of which are fine with the GMP. One set is the Garrets mentioned above, which I also find very clear and comfortable.
I make all the wired head phones wireless by using the Deteknix transmitter/receiver set that I got from Tony Hunt at Detectorbits. You can get them a few pounds cheaper by ordering through MDF Shop.
I have found the GMP fairly forgiving when it comes to headphones. Not at all like the FBS E-Trac on multi-tones, which is far more picky.

Re: What headphones for Goldmaxx Power
Hi, thanks for your advice so far. I have owned a pair of WS3’s many years ago, but to be honest I’ve forgotten how good or bad they actually were? (They were cheaper back then also) I’ve also owned a pair of Grey Ghost’s, but if I recall, they were a little on the uncomfortable side.
I have also been advised that the WS2’s sit to one side on your head, due to more weight on one side. They also look a little flimsy?
The Garret headphones sound quite good though, I have to say. (Thanks for the link
)
I’m based in West London by the way friend.

Re: What headphones for Goldmaxx Power
I use nothing other than the WS3 headphones. comfy, wireless, blocks out the outside world and perfect sound with the adjustable volume settings. Not to mention the 50 hours detecting time on one full charge. Can't beat them in my opinion mate

Re: What headphones for Goldmaxx Power
Each to their own of course, some prefer full closed cup headphones whilst others prefer open cup backphones - no doubt advantages and disadvantages to both depending on your preference. I personally prefer the open backphones as I also like to hear what is going on around me. The XP backphones are just great, lightweight and comfortable, and have the same speakers as the WS4's & WS5's so great sound quality. A bargain at just £12.

Thanks for all of your answers, I’ve bought myself a pair of WS3’s
again, in the end. I haven’t had a chance to use them as yet
I cannot remember what they were like as it’s been a few years since I used a detector ...
best regards .

Re: What headphones for Goldmaxx Power
You certainly won't be disappointed they are great headphones as are the XP Blue Back-Phones which make for an excellent back-up pair

Re: What headphones for Goldmaxx Power
Thanks for the message regarding the XP backphones, I have seen a pair on eBay for just under £15. Which is very reasonable to say the least
