Hi John, watched a you tube video where float test was done and when the coil could touch the bottom ie approx 3 feet deep the battery end stayed just floating.... but the minute the water was deeper than lenght of CTX it always started to sink slowly down, so if you let it go in deep water keep a watch on it or put a rope on it attached to you as it does sink,
Ger.

for any one who is interested in how the ctx sounds on a pasture hunt i have made a video for you.
shows in my opinion the best and worst of the ctx, i find a 11 to 12 inch penny plus the ctx shuts down on me lol.

I have been watching all your videos Tombs, well done.
I like the way you keep it honest with no agenda, this is what possible buyers of the CTX need to see, cheers

Minelab have misread the requests from many detectorists some of whom were in this hobby before Minelab ever existed.

You know what the many detectorists needed without me repeating them but the Codan/minelab team failed to listen,finally the machine is far over priced even though its made out in the Far East where the labour charges are much lower than the western world.

Summing the whole affair up I do not think that the CTX3030 will be as successful as the Explorer and e-trac range from their stable.

Time will tell, but just watch the various forums over the coming months for the answer. ;) Jerry.

Thanks for sharing Tombs ::g

Not had mine shut down on me yet but I noticed everytime I laid the detector down if the coil was at an angle to the ground it would chatter a lot
