Tax Rebate CTX

Post by Bargeman » Fri Nov 10, 2017 6:31 pm

I appear to have wandered into the dark side with the purchase of a used CTX3030, I had a substantial tax rebate out of the blue, so thought I would treat myself ::g :D This is not, I hasten to add, to replace my trusty GMP, or my incredible Rutus Alter, but another string to the bow so to speak. I have given a worked piece of ground a quick swing with the 11" coil, and was amazed at how deep this thing punches, first target was a loom weight at a genuine 10" deep.
I am looking forward to learning more of this machine, and am sure I will have some very basic questions to ask along the way ::g x;

Tax rebate - what's that? I had one once until they realised their mistake...

Well done - the CTX 3030 is a formidable machine by all accounts - hope it lives up to its reputation for you :)

Well done on getting something back from the legalized thieves!!! at least Dick Turpin had the courtesy to wear a mask

CTX by all accounts is a very good performer and finds some deep stuff, if I could get away with it I may be tempted to add it to my arsenal

Keep us informed of its performance good and bad, and settings along the way and once you have mastered it.

Regards Steve

I'd get your digging muscles toned up if I were you. It will go a damn sight deeper than that! :D

Congratulations - getting something from HMT always has an extra bit of happiness attached to it. Look forward to seeing your new and improved find rate ::g

Tax rebate = they give you your own money back after they kept it for you without paying any interest. You try doing it to them!

Now all you need to do is find a gold hoard and .... hang on a minute...will they want CGT from the land owner as the price of gold has gone up since they first acquired the items even though they didn't know they had them x;
If you've ever dealt with HMRC you'll know that they have tools to make you wince. ""%*

Good luck with the new machine - did you avoid VAT like MR. Hamilton :))

Well done on doing something constructive with the rebate which will give you pleasure for years to come. Every year I plan to do something similar but the money just sort of... goes.

This thread has given me an idea to put the Deus through as a legitimate business expense. Might put it in the Capital Expenditure column as 'Driveway Nail Clearance Device After Them Bleedin Roofers Have Finished.' Might get it through. Then again it might get a "nice try, sunshine" response, like the 'Site Operatives' Welfare Facility' (karaoke machine) did.

Hey ho, worth a go. ::g

The rebate came out of the blue, the company I work for had been deducting the wrong tax rate and I never knew. So I got enough back to buy a new CTX but went for a used one with loads of warranty instead. A win win situation. ::g

So far the only disappointing side to the CTX is not being able to use the software and associated programs with my Mac computer. How do Mac owners get around this situation?

Do you know anyone that lives near you that owns a Ctx3030 if you do just ask them to upgrade your Ctx as they will already have the program on their REAL computer. It only takes seconds to drag and drop the programs.
Sorry but I am to far away from you to assist but someone here should be near you.

Enjoy the Ctx it takes a while to get on with but you won't have any problem.

The ctx is an excellent machine and as you say it punches very deep. Good luck in the future and may the gods grant you many more finds.

Probably off-topic, but i'm currently looking at getting rid of all my Apple IT - iPhone, iPad and MacBook pro and replacing them with something that actually works for me without having to jump through dozens of hoops - they're just not user-friendly and as you suggest, the relevant software for this and many other applications isn't always available for Macs.
