New Minelab Vanquish rumours.

Post by Blueboy » Wed May 01, 2019 4:53 pm

Just reading that Minelab are releasing/making a new detector. Not much info on it but its supposed to be called Vanquish.

Anyone in the know to confirm this.

Other forums are awash with rumours and it is clear that nobody knows anything! :D Besides which have you learned nothing from the Equinox launch fiasco? Just watch out for plummeting parachutists at Detectival and anticipate delivery in about a year (at the earliest)! ::g

Vanquish? That sounds a bit too much like a certain sports car.
I would have thought they might choose a more logical name something like The Equinox 100 8-| and possibly featuring on-board facilities for cordless headphones :D

On Sunday I was talking to Mark who runs Detctival, asked him as Minelab were sponsoring Detectival this year was there going to be a big reveal. He said he knew of nothing as of yet, but said at last year's Detectival he was approached by Minelab who were insistent on being the main sponsors this year.

But the Equinox launch was masterly. Build anticipation and make em wait. People don't want things that are easily available and stacked on shelves. They are competitive animals. I sometimes play a bit of a game at craft fairs or markets....I select a stall that has no customers and the stall holder looks forlorn. His or her stuff is lovely but it keeps getting passed by. So I stop and chat and look intently at things and ask questions and gush. Sometimes I buy something but it isn't necessary. Suddenly other people appear....and then other people come to see what the first people are looking at. Job done.
It was always obvious to me that the whole 'waiting list' thing was a well-executed plan. I fully expect the same or similar will happen next time.

Man i've only just caught up and bought the Nox!!
*Walks away grumbling that he is behind the times and an old fossil*

I agree with Littleboot though
Plus Minelab has a cult following, so any launch both negative or positive will get folk salivating and queuing at every outlet
Negative being better cause the tension is ten fold, the need to get the machine 15 fold, and the fact you hate your best friend cause they got theirs before you is 20 fold!!

Edit:
Oh and i would like to now take full responsibility for the acronym that will come from this launch name Vanquish
I now name you
The VANK
You're welcome
And remember you heard it here at the MDF first
(Take note minelab, PM me for my address for my free machine to review for you before any of the other salivating folk get one)
::g ::g

Imagine at the MDF rally
Hey, how ya doing?.....oh cool, what machine you using?

*said whilst doing the minelab wiggle*
Oh its a VANK
:D

Double edit:
@Minelab
I am from south west England, carrot crunching land
Believe me when i say that introducing "THE VANK" in a review and unboxing promotion video is a sound to behold when said in my true somerset full on, carrot crunching, bailer twine for a belt, and cider swigging full on accent!!!
Gert lush is this VANK my luvvers

Triple edit:
I just emailed this to minelab to stake my claim :-*

It is to be hoped none of the users are of Russian or Scandinavian origin. (I remember the Icelandic owner of Stoke City referring to their rivals, and the team I support, as Port Whale.)

Just as a point of I think Interest, why do we Brits ALWAYS have this compulsion to shorten words? Why?
Equinox ...Nox, Vanquish... Vank, etc etc etc.I mean their not exactly long words or awkward words to pronounce even.
Even Scousers are terrible for it and even insist on shortening a very short 3 letter word like ....LAD to..... La even. What`s this what appears to be an inbred desire to do this for I wonder? :))

With my sensible head on and trying to save Blackadders job, I read on another (American) forum that the name was going to be the Minelab Victory...This was supposedly from a good source over that side of the pond...

Oh, deary deary me x;

BA's been overdosing on jelly beans and this past week has been constantly bouncing off the walls, shouting at chairs and claiming to be Tallulah Bankhead or, during particularly bad episodes, Caligula's pet slug. We're changing his meds, so please bear with him ::g

I think it’ll be a CX replacement. Others are rumour milling a mid priced detector between their cheap starter machine and the Nox. In true marketing terms not having a starter machine to get brand loyalty from the start can be an oversight, although XP and Minelab have both been doing fine with poor entry level offerings for years ;))

It’ll be launched at Detectival again I suspect so we’ve 4 months of speculation to endure x;
