The whorl was approximately 9", a little more than the length of my Garrett probe

Not deep, roughly 6" or 7" and as you would expect, a very strong signal in both audio and positive LED.

After a long lay off I enjoyed my detecting yesterday. Didn't find anything of note but the MP worked well and I feel I have really bonded with it.

Found this weekend with the Nexus MP in stubble land with moist soil. Very few positive signals for four hours detecting but Jim and I have recently put in two full days detecting in this field with not so much as a button to show, so I was very happy.
The Elizabeth coin was my first positive signal and the penny came up within the hour, couldn't believe my luck.

Out again on Sunday, didn't find any silver or great items but thought I'd post the items found that are typical of a days detecting.

Out recently with the Nexus MP, didn't get a lot but had an enjoyable time. the MP was working really well. I'm sure there will be hammered to found in this field, it just wasn't the right day for it. Maybe next time though.

At a rally in Scotland over the weekend. Hard detecting due to long stubble in all the fields except one (and that one didn't become available till Sun). Alas, no silver for me ......

Fantastic find whis1962, that is something really special, the sort of find one dreams about.
Well done.

What were the ground conditions like, was there much iron around?

[/img]Moist ground, stubble. Lots oi iron and alloy. Signal for ring was clean non ferrous tone although cut off ether end, found between two lumps of iron about a 12 inch either side of ring. Luckily I dug it and was questionable at first.

The ring cleaned up.

That is a stunner, very well done, well pleased for you. Would like to know more about it as you uncover it's age etc.

Managed to get my first bit of yellow metal with my MP the other week. Not old, missing its stone and only 1.7g, but at least 14ct and my first g ring not off the beach, Spindal whorl also found at the same time.
