Congratulations on your purchase.

As far as I know you are the first Bonanza owner on the forum, it will be really interesting to hear your comments so please keep us all informed.

Good luck and happy hunting! ::g

Always wanted to be different x; will keep you informed as and when, never used a Nexus before, so looking forward to it, using a Laser trident 2 extreme 14khz with the newish DD coil at the moment.

The Nexus has just arrived :D great build quality and textured finish, the stem locks are in my opinion the best i've seen, the knobs and switces are positive with a great feel, overall very impressed with the general package, will do a write up on it after it's had a workout on my permision and on the beach, if it's as good as Nexus claim, then it should be right near the top of anyones wish list for a good introduction to detecting.
Fingers crossed ::g

Sounds interesting! Is it a fast recovery machine..ie good in the iron? Had a look online..10 AA batteries! Also what do they cost?

Thanks for interest Clint, thought I had a contagious disease :D
Done some air tests today, and very happy, but not tried it out on my permission or beach yet.
40mm rusty nail with a 7mm very thin silver hammie held together, no iron and a positive responce at approx 7" very easy to use, very well built £360 including UK delivery from Nexus in the UK.
When the weather improves a little I will give it a workout, but impressed so far.
Hope this helps.

Please remember on the beach to use the ground mineral switch set at Low position (the middle) and the discrimination switch to Manual. The salt water is rejected by the discrimination control at a level just a little higher than the Iron somewhere between 4 and 5 on the scale.
Make sure that you adjust the disc level slowly, not to reject the salt water too much, but just enough, other wise some smaller targets may be lost.
When you do so only modern white gold will not be detectable from the non-ferrous range. Everything else will be.
Happy hunting.

Out of interest Nexus how does running the machine in discrimination auto work, does not seem to cover that in the manual.

To Bob 79, the auto function covers all settings of the detector. For Disc it is set at a fixed level when running in auto.

Hope this helps Clint
You can have a rusty nail on top of a silver hammie and you will only get a positive signal from the coin, not the nail, if you separate them even by a small amount say 10mm you get the same result.
Iron is very easy to distinguish as its like a clicking sound, so set your discrim just on the edge of that sound for best effect.

Thanks again Mike.
How is it when you change the orientation of the nail..ie. north to south, east to west, alongside the coin? I found with my etrac if the nail was n/s,ie had a narrower profile,it would pick up the coin. If the nail was placed e/w and was wider than the coin it struggled. Note, this was with the 13 ultimate coil and probably not the best one to use for this type of test. I will repeat it when I get round to buying a smaller coil. Interestingly there only seems to be 6/7 khz coils available for the Bonanza (deep seeking? ) whereas most faster coin machines work on higher (18 khz?)...

Hi Clint
Changing the direction of the nail made very little difference to the signal, it was still clear, maybe just a couple of clicks for the nail, but the coin still came through as a two way repeatable signal.
