A couple of points to note: Ground Balance is so important to get right, get it wrong and you will pay dearly as discrimination will not be accurate and you will probably have a noisy session. Ground Balance with Sensitivity at minimum with a faint threshold. After Ground Balancing has been successfully completed, Sensitivity may be turned up a little at a time whilst raising and lowering the coil between 3 and 10" from the ground. You are looking to keep the Threshold nice and soft with no ground interference so keep the Sensitivity at a level that provides this.
Initially have the discrimination at 10:00 hrs, once you have got to know the MkII better you will be able to reduce this level.
As we all know only too well, it's a matter of getting out in the field and learning the language of the detector.
