Having any Trouble with the Forum ?

Post by mrix » Fri Apr 07, 2017 9:20 pm

Hello all, I have now removed the old topic regarding the malware issue as it now appears that problem has been resolved.
The reason for this thread it just to help anyone having issues with logging in, keep getting logged out etc.
Or if you have any other forum issue you have with the function not working quite how it should etc.
If you have any issues at all please post away or contact me by pm ::g

Thanks all
mrix

Hello David & Me and my boy,

First thing to do is delete your internet Browser cache cookies

The next thing is to check is where did you login from ? have you saved the MDF address as a bookmark somewhere like in your Browser or on your device somewhere ? if you have then is it the New address of https://www.metaldetectingforum.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ? this New address is very slightly different from the old address as it now has an "s" in it, https:// etc

The trouble is when you login using the old address starting http:// you will be ok until you click a link on the MDF which has the new address and at that point the MDF Will log you out.

Basically you need to now click this link https://www.metaldetectingforum.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and login again and hopefully all is resolved ::g
But its very important to clear those browser cache cookies first ::g

Hope this helps

Not got any real trouble with the site, I used to click on the forums icon on my desktop, it's that when I deleted the old address and selected the new one I put an icon on the pc but it comes up a different page, I have to go into my favourites click on MDF the page opens but is an old page I then have click on home to get to the current day. I have to go all around the houses to get there,

any help would be appreciated.

Hi Geoff, you must of simply added another address of the site which is not the front page, you need to create have a link simply to https://www.metaldetectingforum.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Check what the link is showing or create a New icon

Hope this helps

Thanks Mike, I have the right page in my favourites now but can't seem to create a correct desktop icon, at least it's a lot better.

Hi Mrix, I check in more than a few times every day and haven't had any issues at all, although a few times in the last week I have logged in and get a dead page that says the site is suspended, which I guess is while you are working on it. Other than that no redirections or misleading adverts, glad you sorted out the issue though.Andy ::g

I had trouble for two days of not being able to find the forum.. kept getting this message:

'Hmm, we can't reach this page.
Try this
Make sure you’ve got the right web address: https://www.metaldetectingforum.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Refresh the page
Search for what you want'

In order to make the connection I had to reboot my router after that all was okay.

Hi Phil, that`s simply because the recipient has not opened them from their end, when they finally do they will show up in your sent folder ::g

When I right click on a topic, inspect element at bottom of dropdown, I get this :
Uncaught ReferenceError: snow is not defined
at onload (viewforum.php?f=10:460)
and sometimes this :
VM1564:61 Synchronous XMLHttpRequest on the main thread is deprecated because of its detrimental effects to the end user's experience. For more help, check https://xhr.spec.whatwg.org/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.
Not having any issues that affect forum usage though. ::g

That "metal detecting auction" Facebook banner has broken it's confines and is escaping across the text. Would it be possible to round it up?

Hi DD, that`s interesting, no one has mentioned that, in my browser all is fine,

Can you give me a few details like what device are you using, PC, Laptop, ipad, phone etc ?
If you could provide a screenshot that would be great if possible ::g

Also does anyone else have that same issue ?

Thanks for the feedback both ::g B-)

When creating something like a menu or another add-on you can never really test across all devices, I built the left panel on my PC so tested it there and on my phone which both displayed very well.

I`ll certainly know how popular tablets are becoming so I`ll certainly look into getting that fixed ::g

Hello, at the moment that is very normal as the permission option has not be added in this specific forum to add a file ::g

I have however received the screenshots which is great, I wish you could of contacted me sooner as that issue looks very annoying.
Thanks
mrix
