Hello again, you should have access to over 100 different smilies, I can access these from my phone and through PC, if anyone else cannot see all the smilies please let me know ::g
In the mean time what device are you using to view the MDF Spiker ?
Thanks

Could be just an issue displaying on edge have you tried another browser ?

Just opened forum in Google chrome and all Smilies are present, don't know whats up with Edge, will have a bit of a fiddle and see what happens. Chrome has a few issues but I don't use it much on this laptop so will concentrate on Edge. ::g

Smilies and Avatars

Post by mrix » Sun May 07, 2017 11:32 am

Smiles and avatars

Smilies - Hello all, a couple of members so far explain they have issues with the display and actually seeing all the avatars, if you are also have problems with them please let me know but just replying here, if you could also add a small screen shot to show the issue that would be ideal but no big problem if you cannot ::g

Avatars I have been trying to make as many pages of the MDF green padlock secure as possible, one of the main reasons why many pages will not show a green lock is because a members avatar is hosted off-site, if you was not aware you can now upload your own avatar to the MDF Server which will help to make more pages show secure ::g

Simply click your User Control Panel button in the left blue menu then click the Profile tab at the top....
When the page opens you will see the Edit Avatar link.
Here you can simply use the drop down box to select upload avatar....

Your images will need to be within the avatar size as below or it will not allow you to upload.....
Maximum dimensions; width: 90 pixels, height: 90 pixels, file size: 20.00 KiB.

Still having problems with some smilies - they sometimes just come up as code. For example the smilie one with eyelashes and rouged cheeks ]l . Noticed it on a few others on my posts too. Not a massive deal or urgent. Everything else is working beautifully ::g thank you

P.s. Worked here now but didn't when I submitted this the first time before I edited it ,':|

Hello again, other members who use edge are experiencing the same thing so I have had to remove the scroller for the time being until I can get it working in all browsers including Edge.

At the moment you get around 48 smilies on the edit screen but if you click the link at the bottom called " View more smilies you will get a further 114 more ::g

Is this a new issue or just my machine? Using MacBook Pro - as of today, when I try to navigate to the next page on any post, I get a pop-up saying that my Flash Player is out of date and must install an update..... hmmmm. FlashPlayer update? sounds dodgy to me - anybody else experienced this today?

Hello Phil, another member has also experienced problems, I have checked the code and all appears secure, there should be no issue but as before I cannot rule anything out.
I`ll look into it, if anyone else is experiencing similar please reply.
Thanks

Thanks Mrix - I would add that the pop-up is not from Adobe but from some unrecognised website, therefore probably a scam.

Yep - have just cleared caches and deleted history but now am getting 'Mac Security Alert' scam pop-ups as well as the Flash Player (suggesting I install FLV Payer) ... I'm off - will come back later :)

Hi Phil, Unfortunately or fortunately I am not getting anything similar this end using chrome and have clicked around the whole site with no issues at all.
I have also checked the code and nothing looks untoward at the moment.
I also have all pop up allowed on my browser.

Would be good to hear from all members reading this post if they are having a similar experience or the forum is totally fine for them ?

Thanks all

Maybe this is related to Mac users rather than Windows?

Hi mrix I still have trouble navigating the forum, page links are a real pain, they quite often send me all over the internet. Sometimes it will be say page 4, clean my cache etc try again then say page 2 will link elsewhere. Most times my security will stop the link and I get an alert, it's a real pain sometimes.
:(
Forgot to say I use Edge on laptop and Chrome on tablet.

If members who are reading this thread could please reply and state if the site appears to have problems or if the MDF is running fine for you personally that would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks all

Hi Mike, Having read your last post today, I clicked 'view more smilies' and pop-ups arrived as:-

1. 'your computer is being tracked - we strongly recommend you click disable'

Also the 'flashing red notification ' cannot be marked 'turned off' as no icon to do this appears.

Thereafter, the cursor moved freely but failed to operate when clicking anywhere on the forum pages including 'forward' or 'backward' or indeed on any sub-forum. Hope this makes sense!

Yep, I am sending this from my android phone as my laptop using edge and my tablet using chrome throw up an alert every time I click on certain page links. False flash player etc.

Hi Eric, when you click view more smilies this is indeed a pop up window to allow the additional smilies, I am not sure why its saying computer is being tracked, simply could mean an over active cautious security system but I will double check this ::g
The flashing notification should have a little box with a tick icon, normally if it keeps flashing you have somewhere a notification you have not clicked on, please double check first ::g
You can disable different types of notifications by going to your admin control panel in the left menu then click on board preferences then the little tab edit notifications ::g
Hope this helps
Cheers

Looks like there is an issue, its just a shame I cannot see it my end, all I can do is try to find out where, its certainly not the issue we had before.
Thanks for the feedback

Issues with iPad, first menu from MDF Home Page to Contact not working (iPhone functions OK though) OK on main PC running Chrome

May be related to problems being experienced, or not? but more info to go on

Hi Steve, thanks for the feedback, I am not sure if your issue is related at the moment, are you getting any pop ups / redirects etc on the ipad ?
The links simply not working could be related to something else, when did they last work on the ipad for you ?
Thanks

I was suffering from this last night too, on Windows 10 Edge Browser.

I thought it was my Laptop that was at fault so set about full scans all evening(currently accessing forum on Mac) no problems currently noted with Safari here.

Hi Dave, that confuses things somewhat as the other member thought it may of been a mac issue, so you still have issues with the laptop access ?

Thanks

No pop ups or redirects on iPad or any thing else, just the menu items not working on iPad, was OK a couple of days ago.
