STRANGE QUOTES ? - Clear Browser Cache

Post by mrix »

Hello all, we do have another topic running on this issue but I have been contacted by a few members who are still seeing the strange multiple quotes due to the theme update.

To resolve this issue and take the quotes away simply clear your browser cache ::g

Thanks all
mrix

I have no idea how or why it worked, but simply refreshing the page on which the quotes appeared got rid of them and they've not appeared since.

Using Firefox. Probably got lucky.

Thanks ... please can you explain how one refreshes a page ... do you mean log out and back in again?

Find the name of the browser you use, example: Firefox, chrome etc etc
Then google "How do i clear the cache"
Follow the simple instructions
All will be sorted
You will have to log back into the forum, but the issue will be cleared

Basically your browser is using a cached page because its what lazy browsers do to save them time, and due to the upgrade you are getting a conflict

Sure, OA. I don't know which browser you use but the refresh (basically reloading the page) icon is usually an arrow bent into 3/4 of a circle. The icon is usually prominent in your toolbar at the top of the window. Another way to find it is by right-clicking anywhere on the page and the menu which appears should have this icon on it somewhere.

Just click on the icon and the page will reload, hopefully without the quotes as it did for me. No need to log in or out.

On a PC keyboard, pressing the F5 key will reload/refresh the page ... and the quotes vanish.

Many thanks ..
I get these instructions
On your computer, open Chrome.
At the top right, click More More.
Click More tools and then Clear browsing data.
At the top, choose a time range. To delete everything, select All time.
Next to "Cookies and other site data" and "Cached images and files," check the boxes.
Click Clear data.

But the thing fails at the first step since I dont have a clue how to open Chrome ... the thing about computer instructions is that they assume one know how to work a computer. its very frustrating.

edi: I just managed to clear browsing data .. dont ask me how ... and it seems to have worked.

The easiest way to clear those quotes, if you have a Windows PC, is to press "ctrl" and "F5" at the same time.
This forces a hard-refresh without losing all your history.
Pressing "F5" on it's own will not always refresh the page correctly.

No this is true I refreshed the page countless times with no joy, for me it was cache file removal through the Google Chrome Browser ::g

Thanks

If you don't want to lose that history, then CTRL + F5 will do it for you.

Thanks for the tip, for me personally I always remove everything but saved passwords, but I am sure its certainly a very useful tip for many that dont want to be so drastic ::g B-)
