New Fisher due at the end of 2012

Post by Fusion » Thu Dec 29, 2011 8:02 pm

I thought you might like to know that Fisher/First Texas are developing a new machine that's believed to be a 'dual-frequency F75'. It is due for sale in approx. 1 years time.
It is not known whether it is a modern equivalent to the 5KHz/15KHz 'Fisher CZ' series machines, or whether it can also do either frequency independantly, the way some of the high-end Whites machines do.
The dual-frequency advantage is deeper accurate discrimination, which would make it popular with U.S. 'deep silver coinshooters'. The CZ machines are heavy and outdated technology-wise, but are well thought of, and still attract high prices. They tend to struggle in iron-contaminated ground, and have a slower recovery/response time.
Doing both frequencies independantly would permit F75/T2 type fast-response operation, with the added choice of the lower (5KHz - ish)frequency for larger items/milled coins/hoards. Single-frequency operation is better able to cope with difficult/iron-contaminated ground.

This info comes from Thomas Dankowski, a U.S detectorist with close links to Fisher.

Very little new info, unfortunately. I think Mr. Dankowski is obviously in-the-know, but is unable to give any more info out. There was mention it would be more like the Tek G2 / new-Goldbug. There has been plenty of discussion on Tom's forum (which is read by Fisher engineers) about desirable features it ought to have, so hopefully it should be 'what the customer wants'.

to be honest fisher should make a dual frequentzy f75 ,with added improvements ,such as ground grab on wet sand instead of having to manually balance when beach hunting ,which is daft ,never had to do it with f5 .automatic balancing on the move ,autotrack would be handy .an option to switch the backlight off .a three way pinpoint system like on the old whites ,dont get me wrong i love the f75 ,i worship it ,brilliant machine i,ve owned one now ,for nearly 4 months and have found 13 hammerd coins with it and gold all sorts of goodies ::g ::g are you listening fisher ,you if did all this the f75 would be the best complete all round deep seeking machine out there , p.s no need for gps nonesense ::g ::g

Anybody talk to the Teknetics guy who was at the Wanderers Rally. If was giving away T-shirts and baseball caps with Euro-tek on them.
He said they are introducing a new midrange Teknetics model for Europe called the Euro-tek, he was more enthusiastic about the new top of the range model they were developing that's supposed to be the Holy Grail of detectors. Not forgetting that Teknetics and Fishes are both owned by First Texas.

Apparently the Teknetics version of the new machine has been spotted in a US detecting TV show (Dig Wars), which was filmed about 6 months ago. It was described as looking like a T2/F75, with chrome metalwork. If it's a development prototype, it could just be bare/polished aluminium, though black & chrome sounds a good combination. If they have managed to ram all the electronics into the existing F75/T2 housing, nice work, because there isn't much spare space inside the current machines.
Interesting to note that the official 'Dig Wars' blog site describes the machine as a T2:
"Mike Scott debuts his “Dirt Digger” which is an original factory prototype of the now current Teknetics T2 Special Limited Edition metal detector"
This could just be a cover-story.

This new machine may have a knock-on effect on the second-hand values of T2's and F75's. I have noticed a few for sale recently - maybe people are selling in advance of the new machines' launch.
