That was a pleasant surprise

Post by cantona1 » Wed May 16, 2018 7:51 pm

Found this pretty grotty looking coin today on ploughed and rolled stubble with the Q40 on Rings mode, sens at 80, discrim on bottom 3 notched out, probably about 5 inches deep. I never wipe my coins in the field anymore, I've messed up to many that way rl; I put it away and had a better look when I got home and it turned into this beauty :D

Nice one, that's cleaned up rather well. A lesson for us all I think, patience is everything in this game.

English Coinage - Pre 1920 coins were sterling standard .925.
1920 to 1946 - Silver was debased to 50/50 content.
1947 - 'Silver' coinage content was an alloy of Copper/Nickel (cupronickel)

They’re lovely coins to find, always give such a good signal. It’s cleaned up very well, most of around that age do.
Nice one for the collection :D

Chip, if I tell you please don't shout at me :) I think it was Lowland that made me do it rl;

First I gave it a couple of minutes of Electrolysis, then, ( you said you wouldn't shout remember ) I'm ashamed to say I gave it a gentle rub with a Brillo pad rl;

Came up nice didn't it B-)
