Hopton beach trip

Post by Norman_invader » Tue Jun 26, 2018 3:29 pm

1st day of my 4 day break to the Norfolk coast saw me on the beach at 5am,
This is my first proper go at using my Q40 on a beach,so having read on here of other quest owners settings I ran in jewellery mode, sense 55 & set manual ground balance to 50,the tide was out so I hit the wet sand first,no problem at all, nice & stable, but when I went onto the drier sand I was getting a lot of falsing 94/95 from large see defense rocks(granite I think)which I soon discovered small bits
of these rocks buried all over the place,so I just ignored 94/95 signals,
I had a few bits of random metal, oil drum lid, shotgun shell & find of the day was George V 1936
Halfpenny which was 3" deep in a gravel strip,
Same again tomorrow only further down the beach,I'll post any exciting finds

Hello 'Norman-invader', Your top centre find appears to be a 'sump plug' of some sort, usually brass so into the scrap box with him (unless he's a collectable) ::g Regards ss47
