Ground balance?

Post by Mrsearcher1965 » Thu Oct 12, 2017 8:52 pm

Hi all,I've a quest q40 and as the manual is a little vague I notice the preset modes have a ground balance of 90.ive used the auto mode and had results from 55-70 on Essex clay soil.this seems too low so would you recommend leaving it on 90?.the machine is finding small roman grots etc but I'm a little worried I'm not getting the best out of it.your answers will be appreciated

Just do an automatic ground balance by holding the button on for 10-15 seconds while pumping the machine up and down, when the numbers match you should be good to go.

The advice given by 'cantona' is the way to go. It really serves no purpose to ask what readings are generally obtained from another detectorist because ground effect, both positive and negative varies by quite a margin in the many areas of UK. In fact, the effects can change quite considerably from one part of a field to the next, so it's good practice to ground balance your machine every 30 minutes or so, it's a quick and simple action. ::g All the best and Good Luck. Agree , 60 sounds about right . I also ground balance whenever I change mode say from all metals to jewellery or coin . Dont know if it makes any difference but considering its a good idea to ground balance every 30 minutes or so , it sounds the best thing to do .
It is nice to know that you can come on here and ask other users their experiences with the Q40 ,we are all learning different things about this great little machine .
