With thanks to Mario E ID please

Post by cantona1 » Fri Feb 02, 2018 4:04 pm

Cheers Mario E ::g I tried your settings today in a stubble field that gave nothing last time out, it may be a coincidence but with the sensitivity down to 80 from 95 and tones on 6 the Q40 seemed even more stable than normal, straight away I had a lead bag seal, no markings unfortunately, then a lovely signal around 75 gave me this lovely (but squashed) silver thimble ::g

That's the second one I've had in the last few weeks, next ones gonna be whole ::g
Next up at about 5 inches came this interesting Religious Pendant

One side says "look unto me and be ye saved" the other has "fight the good fight of faith" really unusual, not had anything like it before, anybody got any thoughts on the age of the two items please?
A big thank you to our new member Mario for his very kind tips, they seem to work very well :))
Thanks MarioE

Well found - lovely thimble - amazing how so much time and effort would have been spent making such a small practical object.

The plate looks Victorian to me - from my knowledge of the Bible (sorry, I meant Google), both sides are direct quotes from the Bible, as you've probably already discovered - one from Isaiah and one from Timothy. Did think the 'fight the good fight' might be something to do with the Salvation Army? Hope you can get a good ID.

Well Cantona, it appears that the settings advised by Mario are 'indeed' an improvement on the setting that some of us have been using. I will give the setting a try tomorrow on a field that I have swung both my EuroAce and Safari over. I will firstly try out the setting on an area that has produced some interesting US coins.

I'm not sure what is going on with my Q40 but the last time I ran the machine over a paddock where I had recovered plenty of coins with my Safari, I hoovered up some forty plus coins with the Q40. Was it, I suppose, that I actually passed the Q40 coil over coins that I had not passed the Safari coil over? Or could it be that I am better able to interpret the signals from the Q40?

Let's see what tomorrow will bring! ::g
Garrett ProPointer + MineLab Safari + Quest Q40, and loads of determination.
