garrett 300i

Post by teignsaxon » Fri Jul 27, 2018 3:28 pm

Hi using my garrett 300i on dry sand why sometimes am I getting reading of a target one second its 28 (iron) the next 88 good target. Also when swinging at the same speed as I do with my makro I often get no reading at all. Even tried this on a coin I have laid on the sand very slow sweep good target, fast sweep nothing. I usually work in the jewellery mode sens down one notch, Any ideas please as this is a back up machine after the makro. am even thinking of cahanging to a cscope 4pi if I don't get any resolution to these problems many thanks spikey

Not knowing anything about your machine the only observation i can make is the mode you are using it in
You say you are using it in Jewelery mode, this by itself adds a lot of discrimination to your machine by default
you are asking it to concentrate on finding certain metals and items and too ignore others

Try the same experiment using all metal mode

could be a number of things, I think a swing of 1m/second is good practice so not too fast.As for the different readings ...i sometimes get a good signal, turn 90 degrees and get iron numbers, it has always turned out to be iron for me so if it's not a good 2 way bell tone after turning 90 I'll leave it. It could be falsing, I have pretty much ran all my Garretts at 2 bars of max sensitivity, 1 more if still falsing. I personally use all metal mode as I believe it has a better recovery speed and discrim up to 40.
