garrett 300i

Hi just wondering what different it would make by upgrading from the standard coil to a 8.5 x 12.5 on the beach is it worth shelling out £107 I am using a garrett 300i, many thanks spikey

slightly more depth and more ground coverage, from what I've read the pinpointing takes a bit more getting used to. personally I wouldn't bother .

I can see stjimmy's point, as another draw-back would be the additional weight unbalancing the standard set-up and also a larger coil can be more prone to 'ground effect' as wellas the already mentioned potential difficulty pinpointing, so I'm with 'stjimmy' on this but of course it's your call.

You may not agree, but I've always felt that there's a certain amount of psychological gain involved when using 'new gear' (fishing, detecting photography etc), if it makes you feel more positive and confident then the chances are you'll be more positive and confident in your approach to the job in hand and that in my book, can only be good thing ::g (but it's still your choice) 8-|
