I've always used rechargeable batteries in my ACE 250 without a problem though someone did say to me once that the voltage is less on rechargeables but that hasn't stopped me finding the good stuff :)

I used Duracell 4 x AA HR6/NiMH

Hi cookertron

thanks for your reply, will try the re-charg batteries, must save a fortune on conventional ones

do you think they have as much charge when fully charged as off the shelf ones !!

The answer to that question is a definite yes. I always used ENELOOP. Mainly because there wasn’t much option a few years ago. There are a selection of re-charable ones on the market now and more powerful one (if I’ve got that right) they hold more charge anyway than the older ones.
They virtually last for years now, depending how many times you charge them of course. And the nicest thing about them is they don’t loose charge whilst doing nothing.
Might cost a bit more or a lot more if you’re talking el-cheapos but well worth the out-lay. Just remember they need a dedicated charger.
Also don’t get the el-Cheetos mixed up and put them in the charger by mistake x;
