Hi all'
I just got myself a lighter detector to start back detecting after my recent operation.

The Viking 5 Series 2 Rimatron seems to have a good reputation.

I wonder however if anyone could tell me roughly when it was made.

If this is the non motion one I bought one back in the early nineties for using on the beach, they had a rep for being good on wet sand and fore shores as being good among iron.

I'm not sure when they were made but I bought one a few years back on a car boot for a fiver, its still in my shed, I did contact Viking and they did say they would still service it etc, I have one of the knobs missing off of mine and wasn't sure how to set it up but I'm sure I came across some instructions on the net somewhere and might have downloaded them, I've never tried using it as such so would be interested to hear how you get on with it.

A good detector , good on farmland, great at finding hammered coins and roman coins , I found a few gold rings with mine - a super little detector for the price.

I bought one of these last year as a starter machine. Very light, quite deep but just 1 tone and not much decrimination. however, I did find a complete servant's bell from 6ins below our stream with it, as well as various old coins from the garden, so not that bad!! (still have it too)
As the Germans 'might' say:-

new XP Deus/11in coil: 1 silver sixpence 1 foot down!! most impressive.
